On 5th June 2019, the 5th executive workshop in the 2019 Netcomm Suisse Observatory program dedicated to Women in e-commerce and digital was hosted at the Innovation Cube of Philip Morris International in Neuchatel.

Organized by the NetComm Suisse Observatory and sponsored by BFK Digital, this Executive Workshop has been an invitation-only occasion for sharing expert opinion among senior business women.

With 25 attendees, this executive workshop was designed as a platform for female senior managers, executives and leaders to discuss common challenges in the workplace and to share success stories and inspiration for advancing their careers.

We believe that sharing real-life experiences that highlight encouraging personal stories and successful careers of female digital managers can help to support a healthy debate about this topic.

On the agenda, four senior-level female professional shared their personal professional stories and the key learning:

Aline Yordikian, e-Commerce Director at DHL, stating that gender-diversified teams bring 60% more results. Therefore, being open and connecting with all colleagues is beneficial. She also shared the importance of continuous learning in the fast-changing environment of e-Commerce.

Kathryn Parsons, Head of SEO at Philip Morris International, her key take away was about being clear-eyed about understanding the nature of the context and culture of the company you work for and be ready to change when you cannot reach your full potential

Bozena Nawara-Borek, e-Commerce Manager Europe/CEEMEA at Swarovski, in her contribution, she shared her strong belief that you need to embrace challenges and do not be afraid to make your voice heard from peers and senior management.

Ute Poprawe, former CEO of Publicis Frankfurt, challenging the attendees with a passionate plea for women to avoid denying their power, and instead to embrace assertiveness, better understand their male colleagues and then respond accordingly in a self-confident way.

The workshop was closed with a working group session where the attendees were asked to share their views on relevant topics and potential speakers for “Women in e-Commerce and Digital” Event coming up on 24 September in collaboration with Ginetta.

On a long list of selected topics, the attendees highlighted the importance of mentoring among female professionals, sharing the discussion of male counterparts, and how to design a meaningful user experience.
